Two misconceptions about ride-on mowers

There are lots of misconceptions about ride-on mowers. Below are a couple of the most common ones.

You only need one if you have an enormous lawn

Many people who've never used ride-on mowers before think that only people who have a significant amount of grass-covered land need to use them. However, whilst those who do have enormous lawns can definitely benefit from this equipment, people with average-sized gardens can also find them very useful.

For example, anyone who loathes gardening or who has hardly any time to tend to their garden could find it helpful to have a mower like this, as it means that rather than spending, for example, 40 minutes tidying their lawn with a mower than needs to be pushed, they could get in done in perhaps 20 minutes with a ride-on mower. Likewise, anyone who has health problems that cause fatigue, pain or immobility could benefit from getting this mower. This is especially true for those who may have health struggles, as even pushing a lawnmower around an average-sized lawn for a short period could be much too strenuous.

They're not suitable for teenagers to use

Many teens earn their money by mowing their family's lawn. As such, a lot of parents who want their teens to do this chore for them and who are unfamiliar with ride-on mowers may be hesitant to get this gardening equipment. This may be because they are afraid that their teenager will not be able to handle operating this fairly big piece of machinery.

Whilst it is true that a ride-on mower is a powerful form of gardening equipment and that, as a result of this, younger teens might not be mature enough to safely use it. However, that is not true. ride-on mowers are navigable and easy to use, even for teenagers. As such, parents of older teens should not let this stop them from getting this equipment. In fact, these teens might be more enthusiastic about this chore and less likely to make excuses not to do it if they can use this mower. This may be because using a ride-on mower will not only enable them to get the chore done faster but will also make it more fun than if they had to do it with a mower that they had to push.

About Me

Garden supplies for schools

I volunteer at the local school showing kids some garden skills. It's quite easy to get started, and I think it's so good for kids to get out in the garden and get to witness how plants grow and develop and taste food that they have grown. So many of the kids are growing up in apartments and don't get to do gardening at home, so it's a good idea to do it at school where there is some space for them to use. This blog is all about the garden supplies that you need to start a school gardening program.
